What do you think can be done to improve the town of Ajijic?  Here are some of my suggestions:

1. Finish the plaza project.
2. Fix the sidewalks and potholes.
3. Create more murals.
4. Fix the street lights.

IMHO,  paving cobblestone streets is not a good idea.  It will ruin the look of the town.  Vehicle speed will increase thus making the streets more dangerous.

What do you think?

Wow, great ideas. Perhaps we could hold a fundraising event to raise the cash to get those things done.

Basta

BTW......they are planning on laying down paver stones on Revolution not paving it. Many streets in the villages around here are done in paving stones. Google it or get out and have a look.

Wanna talk about abomination? Let's talk about the discompleted plaza in Ajijic. That is an abomination in the eyes of the Lord...and all living beings.

Right on...
Sending email (messages) by smoke signal is quaint too, but we seemed to have moved on.  Automobiles were not around when the cobblestone equation was formulated...nor concrete.
But they are great for private patios and gardens....Rolling Eyes

There you go - perfect solution. Keep the cobblestones, but get rid of the cars! Since many are already under the delusion that their Ajijic is a centuries old "magic" village, on the shores of the Mediterranean lol!

1.) The artist welder is working on the new rails for the Gazebo. It will be quite nice. To finish the rest just takes money.

2.)You can donate money for materials to fix any sidewalk in town. Our neighborhood has donated to fix the worst sidewalks and are waiting for the labor. We patched many sidewalks ourselves. Make it happen.

3.)The Zaragoza mural on the Delegato building is being restored. I agree and would like to see more murals. Need Money. Murals are expensive.

4.) I don't see the problem with the new streetlights unless you don't like the look of them.  Whats do you perceive as a problem with the new LED streetlights?  Sure brightened up our neighborhood at night.

I agree and don't wants the cobbles removed but I don't mind the market street having a walking path in the middle. If you talk to folks it seems as if someone falls every week. Falling at market is a problem.
Question for San Antonio folks. Do people speed on the pavers compared to the pure cobblestone streets?

Z.  I have had street lights on my block go out on two occasions during storms and it took quite a while to get them fixed. It was wiring that was the problem and not the lamps.

How about having the trash truck run at night and early mornings to reduce traffic on the main streets

Good idea!  The truck that picks up by the plaza at around 10 in the morning always causes a traffic jam.  I have been told that the trucks used to pick up very early in the morning.  They still do in my neighborhood.

Pick your poison. Garbage pickup is not a quiet business. I think I prefer the traffic jam but than I live right on the street in Ajijic so I
have a self interest. I wonder if people would still place garbage on the street after the truck came thus defeating the purpose of daily pickup?
