Horse and buggy ride in Guadalajara

Yesterday we took some visitors to Mercado Libertad and the San Juan del Dio Plaza in Guadalajara. We took one of the horse and buggy rides that are offered there. It was very cool. $200 pesos for 30 minutes or $300 pesos for one hour. Well worth it.

You are all lucky you weren't there a few weeks ago, when local veterinarians volunteer time to inoculate and treat the carriage horses. It is a once a year thing. One 4 year old stallion was deemed to need castration, so they tranquilized and dropped him right there in the busy Plaza. I guess the operation was a success, with throngs of curious onlookers. No idea what they did with the leftovers.
