Best route

from Ajijic to Matehaula and then to Laredo? Also, is the new road just past the airport safe now? I haven't heard anything bad as of late. Thanks for any info you can give, I've only driven between TX and Ajijic once and that was coming south.

Can highly recommend this:

Go 80 east from Guad, then exit to Aguas Calientes, then to Zacatecas and onto Saltillo.    This bypasses San Luis Potosi.   Also gets you to Zacatecas without going through the barrancas north of Guad.

I like the Matehuala route except for the crooked state cops on the cuota bypass in (south of) SLP.    

This Aguas / Zacatecas / Saltillo route also has more free roads, but good quality ones.

From Saltillo to Laredo, same as from Matehuala / Saltillo / Laredo, basically.
