Ilox is down

Been down for about 30 minutes. Centro Ajijic.

I just sent a report and within 5 minutes I got this response:

Hello Bob

There is an event in the area affecting your service. Our workteam is in the zone working to solve it as soon as possible.

The ticket for this event is ICE-2710.

Good response. Look forward to hearing how quickly it gets fixed.

Down at six corners too! At least it is an event and not just my service and we know they are working on it.

Mine came back a while ago.

Just checked and it is back. I checked before I wrote and it was still off so a few hour outage. But running fine now.

Yes, I am impressed with their response to problems.

I'm likeing Ilox more and more everyday. Telimex still terrible service, twice the cost and slow net.

Really? ILox will be half the cost of my Telmex bill when I sign up? Half of 389? Less than 200 pesos every month?

I just fear disgruntled Telmex employees cutting vulnerable ilox fiber hung on the CFE poles. Takes a while to splice fiber.

Course that would never happen would it.

Course if there anything like the dunderheads I've dealt with at Telmex over the last 8 years they'd probably try to cut the power lines instead.

where is the Ilox office? I just returned to Aijijic from Guad

It's on the same street as the Wednesday Tianguis in the back part of the Bugambilia Mall (Scallions, El Torito, Farmacia Christina etc.). Actually, if you park in the underground parking at the back of that plaza, they also have a door that opens into the parking area.

Trailrunner , in reference to a comment I made a few days ago on the 10th, during the Ilox outage. I stated that Ilox was" half the price and twice as fast". This afternoon while reading your reply, nudged me to do a speed test and check my credit card bill's to see if indeed this was still the case. Now I'm now not so sure it is.
My speed test came in at 27.43 Down load down. My test right after installation of Ilox around April 5th or 6th showed around 40 down load speed, 4 times the speed from Telmex which was a 10. My bill from Telmex each month was around around 500 pesos. Checking my credit card bill from Ilox, the 1st bill I've received from them is $63.95 US billed on the 5th of May ! needless to say I am a little shocked !

CBob, I think you may have signed up for Ilox around the same time as I, is my bill out of wack ? As I recall they gave you a choice of level of service, 100, 200, and 350 pesos ? Just another Beautiful Day in Ajijic .

We pay 399 pesos a month for phone and internet at 30 mb download but get more than that.

Yes, since that is over 1200 pesos! Since you're quoting credit card and US dollars I am assuming that it is a US credit card which is probably going to have fees associated with it. You did not say which 'package' you have so $60 may not be out of line if it is higher speeds, Telephone and TV. Also with respect to download speed, what 'test' did you use? Different tests are sometimes all over the board. A 'fiber' test site at Stanford has been recommended so you might want to check that.

How is a 'fiber' test site in California going to assess your fiber connection in Jalisco? I really want to know.

RickS, thanks for the reply. Yes it's a US credit card, but they do not charge a fee to use here. I thought I was ordering the 350 Peso package. Will find out soon. The speed test I use is one I have used for several years, seems to be pretty much accurate. but thanks for the suggestion.

Tday, my bill for the first month was higher as well.  I believe that is because of the installation fee and the cost of the cable they have to run from the pole to your house.  Your next bill should be at the normal rate for the package you signed up for. I just did another couple of speed tests, and I'm getting 38 Mbps. I signed up for the package that offers up to 40Mbps, so I'm happy.
