The peso has lost around 30% value to the USD in the last few months. Mexico imports nearly 40% of grains required for feed stock of poultry and tortillas. If egg producers can't make a profit they will start mass slaughter of chickens like is happening in the USA. Government price fixing did not work well in Venezuela.

Agreed, the market should determine the price. Government subsidies can make up the shortfall like they used to with Pemex. It will of course mean inflation.....
