Happy Mother's Day

Today (10 May) is Mother's Day in Mexico. If you want to reinforce your image as the kind, beneficent gringo, don't forget to say "Feliz Dia de las Madres" to your house cleaner on her way out the door today.

I wonder if the so-called good guys are busy staking out the houses of Chapo's mother and suegra to see if he shows up with flowers in hand. Of course, if he would, they would find a way to screw it up and the press would probably call it "Dia de los Desmadres"

On Friday night I had insomnia and got up to mill around the house when I heard some singing down beneath my balcony. There was a group of young people with a variety of instruments going door to door and singing and playing from 1am to 3 or 4 am. It was really interesting and precious. Waking up all the moms and bringing them flowers.
