And the helicopter? Sounds like a dignitary made and appearance after being flown in.

Maybe they needed the helicopter since perhaps the 'barriers' were in the DOWN and LOCKED position?

The governor was here because Chapala got two new Patrullas trucks. Page 12.

Actually, the copter landed on the soccer field in San Antonio and the Governor traveled by car, past the guard posts at the east of LF and the post at Revolution, to LCS. He gave a speech, attended a meeting with the American and Canadian consuls, then on to lunch with the Canadian Club and then was driven back, past the posts at the west and east, to the helicopter and flew off into the sunset.
At least that was my info.

yes they were open , because it was during the day, if he had arrived after 9,30 pm he would have had problems.

So now there are 4 more shiny brand new trucks to join the existing police trucks that drive up and down the Carretera all day...and just what DO they do anyway?

??? If it's like police in most parts of the world, and I think it is...it's called patrolling. Different units have different assigned areas.

if you're trying to be sarcastic-limme straighten you out. it's called patrolling, which they do way more here then wherever you came from NOB. when they take a break,it's usually at a taco stand which is a shorter stop than the NOB cops at the doughnut shop. not bad fer a place that has a waaaay smaller police budget than yer vaunted NOB cops.elizabeth63 wrote:So now there are 4 more shiny brand new trucks to join the existing police trucks that drive up and down the Carretera all day...and just what DO they do anyway?

Re: Federales in Ajijic by LCS
The policia around here need to get out on far more foot patrol's. "Patrolling" with two guys in the cab and several in the back seems like a waste of resources to me. In towns like Guanajuato and SMA you see the policia everywhere on foot, both day and night.
Re: Federales in Ajijic by LCS
I believe that what you are seeing in Guanajuato or San Miguel de Allende are the Tourist Police much like what you see in Tlaquepaque?

Re: Federales in Ajijic by LCS
I agree with you C Bob...driving around in shiny new trucks is not much help...however, if they actually walked around the streets every now and then...well...that would make a visible difference to me, anyway...I saw police of every type all over Mexico City, and more recently in Merida...It's just reassuring to see them around. We get an occasional whiz by of those two dudes on scooters or are they cycles? they always seem to be in a hurry to go somewhere...If there were a few traffic cops at the light at the libramento at the carretera, they could write out enough tickets to stuff the coffers of Jalisco! Maybe they should allow the traffic cops to earn a percentage $$ of the tickets they write...then no more complaints about their low salaries...

Re: Federales in Ajijic by LCS
hey elizabeth, there are at least 3 cops on motos not scooters on duty at any given time and 6 in total. there are tourist cops on bicycles as well and they don't wear white anymore. before ya go shooting off yer mouth, look around. as far as driving around. the function of the muni cops is PREVENTION. a new division has also been formed of really nasty elite cops with extra training, which you will see if you try ta be a criminal so be thankful ya ain't seeing them.
and how many times do you have to be told that they ain't traffic cops? that's state and they are transitos for vialidad. they do their job and them some[jeje!] if yer unhappy with that give me yer driving schedule and i'll pass it along so's you can get all sortsa tickets and contribute money instead of complaining.

Re: Federales in Ajijic by LCS
I don't get tickets because I follow the laws, so my driving schedule wouldn't make any difference. Transitos, vailidad...whatever they're called, my experience is they don't do much...about once a week I'm almost run over as I walk across the street on the carretera at a red light. So it sounds like I'll be seeing these PREVENTION police patrolling Lower La Floresta now. Goodie. Goodie.

Just a polite suggestion: rather than continuing to obsess about the gates, while apparently trying to round up a "lynch mob" to confront the powers that be, a nice hobby may be more rewarding?

When I lived in San Miguel, the local cops patrolled on motos and also on horses. My barrio had very narrow streets in some places and the horses were effective for chasing down the bad guys. Also quieter than the motos.

Re: Federales in Ajijic by LCS
cg. I am most certainly am not obsessed with this , but I am directly affected so will continue to voice my thoughts when appropriate.my remarks are made when someone has ideas regarding policing etc.. but due to this illegal act these ideas cannot be implemented along ramon corona. as regards a lynch mob, you are very mistaken, I have only suggested that people go to the delegaction in san Antonio or ajijic to voice their complaints, maybe in your country this type of thing works but not here in mexico where a more subtle approach is needed...and regarding a hobby, with my business commitments I have very little time, however seeing the number of posts you write it seems to be you who needs a hobby..so with respect please don't offer me advice unless I ask for it..

Don't worry Hickton the comment is from someone who does not live here, does not want to live here, so is therefore bored reading about traffic in a small retirement community in Mexico.
