The lake is rising
Given the amount of lirio floating in the middle of the lake this morning and the significant rise in water level I would say they opened the dams yesterday. That is great news given how early in the season it still is. I don't believe they opened the dams until late August/early September last year.

Looks like it came up .09M since last Friday. That's a good jump. The forecast shows rain every day for the next 10 days.

The latest water-management agreement calls for the release of water periodically during the year instead of only at the end of the rainy season, when the dams upriver are completely filled. There was a release of water last December, which really helped in keeping the lake from drying out further during the dry season. I believe this latest release is in keeping with that agreement.

I can see the shoreline along Riberas from my house. Already the water level is visibly higher than this time last year.
I measure by how far below or above an Eventos the edge of the lake is. It appears the Eventos was built at some point on Federal land.
The shoreline is already not that many meters off the high pint last October!

I doubt that did anything according to any agreement. They opened in December because we had some heavy rains and I believe they opened the dams recently because they are full and fear flooding.
Agreements being followed.....jajajajajajajajajajajajaja.

In Ajijic the water is now under the Tequila Republic and wrapped around the end of the pier. You can no longer walk around the pier on the lakeshore without getting your feet wet. This is almost as high as it got by the end of October last year.
Re: The lake is rising
That's amazing. JUST yesterday I walked to the edge of the pier and looked straight down, and you could still pass by on foot without getting wet.

Re: The lake is rising
From my viewpoint I can judge the lake level by its proximity to an Eventos on the shore of the lake in Rebiras.
I may be out by a small margin but it sure looks like the same lake level as we had last October.
Are there any recent scientific measurements of lake height available? I want to order my water skis before the rush.

I walk the dog down Alseca and have seen the water line move up significantly in the past month.
Still not up to last October level, but getting there.
This is the place I go for factual evidence of lake level.

Hoping that this is a good rainy season for the lake.
