Good experience at Josy's
We ate there today for lunch and had their fried chicken, mash potatoes with gravy, cole slaw and biscuit for 75 pesos. You can have white or dark meat for the same price. The chicken came out sizzling hot, right out of the fryer. It has a heavy crunchy batter on it, a little more batter than I would like, but we will definitely go back. Several people came in and we saw a large omelette go by and also a large club sandwich. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. Service very good. One of the best cole slaw I have found.
Also breakfast selections for 55 pesos.

I had fish and chips there today and is was wonderful. The fish was flaky with just enough breading; the cole slaw was the best I've had in a long time; even the tarter sauce was really good. Good going Josy!

Going east they are just past S&S auto mountain side next to the Puritan chicken place. Used to be Bubba's, Thor's and Mama' Kitchen, but now Josy's. Their fried chicken is good but it does have a thick hard crunchy coating. I would recommend the white meat as the breast portion is huge and no extra cost, only 75 pesos for the whole meal and it comes with a real flaky biscuit. And I agree, the best cole slaw at lake side. They also sell the cole slaw to take out.

Thank you sm1mex. We were going to drive to GDL for KC chicken for my 'fix' but will try Josy's first. Might have to try their fish & chips too...as I really miss Cafe Magana & Jeffrey's fish & chips.

I will try the fish & chips next but the hard crunchy crust on the chicken was a little bit too much for me.

The crust on the fish was crunchy without being hard. Maybe they cooked the chicken just a bit too long.

Maybe they did. I had the dark meat but in the future would get the white meat. Much more bang for your buck.

I also tried them for breakfast. Many selections and good prices. They have great potato pancakes (called hash browns). They are open on Monday when many restaurants are closed.

Are you saying they have real Latkes? With onions in them? My Austrian friend's mom used to make them: soooo good.

No onions in them. They were like we used to fix in the olden days when we had real mashed potatoes left over and we would fry them in patties the next morning with breakfast. yum, yum.

Those are going to be hard to find around here but they are not hard to make. I grate a potato, grate a couple of green onions, add an egg, a heaping tablespoon of flour, salt and pepper and then fry in olive oil until browned on each side. This is going to be close to what you remember. When using local potatoes, you may need to drain them before adding the other ingredients to get out the excess moisture.
