Brew House in West Ajijic
Went for dinner at the Brew House on Monday evening. Great food, lots of interesting craft beers to choose from, plus good wines by the glass and other liquor. The only thing that would make this place better is if they would install some sound-deadening material on the ceiling. Having hard surfaces everywhere makes it very noisy, and difficult to carry on a conversation.
We will definitely be going back again and again to try all the different menu items!
The address is De Las Flores #25 (across the street from Don Pedro's and the French bakery). Their phone number is 766-5657.

Ooops, made a mistake. I meant to say that we ate there on Sunday evening, not Monday.

Actually, I don't know. I quickly scanned the menu because I knew I wanted a glass of wine, and my partner wanted a beer. I'll have to check that next time I go back.

I listed their telephone number in my original post. Probably best to call them to confirm hours.

We really enjoyed our food. I had the Cheesesteak sandwich with sweet potato fries, which came with a chipotle dipping sauce, and my partner had the lamb shank with garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed vegetables. Both meals were delicious! And my partner had two of the draft beers, the American Brown ale, and the American Wheat ale. He said they were very good!

Got a take out order last night. We ordered the Popcorn shrimp, Fish & Chips and the Arrachera. It was ready in 20 minutes and was awesome!!! Glad to have this new place on the west side of town!!!

Re: Brew House in West Ajijic
Four of us went there for lunch at noon. Nothing wrong with the food, but be ready for a down-at-the-beach style PUB. Definitely suitable for the surfer crowd. The noise level is way up there and the acoustics couldn't be worse. The beer may or may not be worth the price of 50 pesos a glass. Matter of opinion.
Food and service: no complaints, but I'd rather have sliders I can actually bite into rather than having to dissasemble them for consumption. The fish and chips looked good, and the one who had the chicken with caesar salad liked it very well. If you like shredded lamb shank in your shepherd's pie, this fits the bill. Take out sounds like a plan, too.
We are too superannuated to enjoy that noise level and general scene. Enjoy, kids!

gringal, as I explained on TOB in relation to your comment about the noise, it is being fixed soon. And with the decor and atmosphere that they have at the Brewhouse, the last thing I would think of is 'down-at-the-beach style'......not even close to that. Jus Chillin is more beach style. How many microbrewery pubs have you been to? This is definitely an urban-style design! And as I pointed out also, the specialty beers come in small and large sizes. The large size is 50 pesos, which is extremely reasonable for that kind of beer. You aren't going to find many of those beers elsewhere in town.

I found the beer selection to be superb and a great value as well!

Re: Brew House in West Ajijic
Sue, the "beach style" was in reference to the noisy pubs in places like Manhattan Beach in CA where you had to scream to communicate, and yes, I've been to micro breweries before. There was more than one in the San Francisco and Monterey Bay Areas. If urban style means very hard chairs with tight seating around tables, then I'll stick to the more comfortable options for drinking and dining.
Taste is personal. This beer didn't do it for me in comparison to others I've known.
But......to each his own.

Twelve, hmmm? Naah. That would be the day.
Couple of sips was enough.

So the ONE you tried you didn't like. Sounded like you didn't like the beers there.

So in other words, you didn't really give it a chance, did you? Not exactly a fair review of a microbrewery / pub!

Re: Brew House in West Ajijic
It's a typical pub....what would you expect?
A welcome addition to our community and I think is on it's way as a winner.
Fortunately not every one has to, or wants to, wine and dine in morbid silence.
Now we just need some negative reviews on places that are too quiet....

So everyone has to be in lock step with everyone else or they should just sit down & shut up?

Re: Brew House in West Ajijic
I haven't tried it yet but after Gringal's review I will get there sooner than later. Sounds like my kind of place. I'm not into beer but I'm sure they can dig up a rum & coke for me.
