Brew House in West Ajijic

I haven't tried it yet but after Gringal's review I will get there sooner than later. Sounds like my kind of place. I'm not into beer but I'm sure they can dig up a rum & coke for me.

I can't drink beer anymore but it sounds like fun! Anything here that is more youthful and spirited is a huge plus to this crotchety old people's home - in my humble opinion.

I've enjoyed it the two times I've been there. Asian chicken wings were delicious. The roasted tomato soup that came with the grilled cheese sandwich was, actually, spectacular. I could only eat two of the three sliders, so took the other home and ate it the next day. Yes, the patty is bigger than what I think of as a slider, but I managed to get my giant mouth around it. I don't care about their microbrews as I favor a good old fashioned macrobrew. No issue with the noise for me. It actually felt lively in there. It has a pulse!

If everyone only liked one kind of place (lockstep) we'd have a sorry restaurant and bar scene around here.  I don't know of any that feature silence, but there's a lot of variety of noises.  My preference is for a noise level that allows normal conversation with your own table, at least.  Others like it loud, from the comments I'm reading.  So, enjoy.  The food's fine.

Some seem to equate a high noise level with being lively, having a pulse, or being fun. People are lively, or not.  Places are just places.  Bring six lively people with you to any place around here and you'll have plenty of fun.

Penitentiaries used enforce the silent system in the mess halls but even that went by the wayside.  
Seriously, everyone should seek their own comfort level in public places as far as noise is concerned.  I just thought that the review concerning the noise had a negative connotation when really it should be just be a preference....thus the mild backlash.

Exactly. It's a preference. To each his/her own. For me, that noise level is such a negative that it's a deal killer, no matter how good the food might be or what else is right with the place.
Where have we heard that it will be fixed? And how? The glass wall causes sound to be amplified, among other things.

I went there this afternoon. Great vibe. Classy place. Lots of different beers and pub style food along with a full bar. I was surprised that it was so tiny. The pictures made it look a lot bigger. We will be going back regularly.

gringal, I mentioned before that the owners are working on installing sound-deadening material.  Obviously, that doesn't happen immediately, so please be patient.  I know they'll do their best.  In the meantime, if you ever go back, try more than one of their beers before you tell us that you dislike them all. And if you really aren't a fan of microbrews, why would you go there? They also have liquors and wines by the glass.

Yes, I think that most of the comments on this thread leaned toward people liking the place. I think you were in the minority on this board and the TOB regarding The Brew House. So I guess we are done!

Yeaaaaaah! We're done. If everybody is finished piling on...... Benji even got a chance to be snarky! whoopee.

After all, people, it's REALLY important to be in the majority of opinions about a brew joint, isn't it?

"There you go again" with your subtle attempt at moderating.  I can understand and appreciate your preference about noise levels in bars/restaurants, but why do you want to lay person moderate a thread, especially after you have had your say.
I think you have been hanging out with maincoons too much or..... having the last word is paramount in your life.
