English, my ass

I was in more than a fender-bender yesterday. Both cars impounded.

I have HDI Seguros through Parker.

Called the company and got a semi-English speaking person to understand I was in an accident and to send an English speaking adjuster as I was told would be done when I purchased the policy and as was told me for the last 1-years when I purchased an auto/H.O. insurance policy.

This year my ins. was changed from the Qualcom (or something) to HDI.

An hour later my adjuster arrived and he spoke NO ENGLISH AT ALL.

So I'm on my own with only one police Officer who spoke some English.

Clearly no help.

This will probably end up at the Ministeria Publico where maybe I'll get the "Legal Assistance" I was told the policy in Spanish provides.

Don't bother telling me in 12+ years I should be speaking great Spanish. I have tried and my ability for learning languages are not one of my fortes.

Sue 'em, I'd say. An undertaking for which, word has it, you've quite an affinity.

The adjuster saved you from a night in jail. If you are worried, take Spencer.

Not according to the several wrecks I have had. I admit that I am a well insured poor driver that has done it under the influence. The adjuster in that instance arraigned the bribes to be paid to the transitos and added her cut somewhere in there. You think they let tourists come back later when there was only physical damage? Ya buddy!

DUI is a whole other thing. Read your policy, it's not in force if you are under the influence.

David, that is why the adjuster wanted so much to turn a blind eye to this car vs tree accident. All the bribes totaled about $300 US, my car was fixed, and the insurance company was skrewed.

I'm not sure which is more astounding ... not thinking you may need a translator in a foreign country, or putting in print that you committed insurance fraud ...

It's beyond me why someone would publicly admit, even brag, to driving drunk and committing insurance fraud.

I use DICo Spanish English Dictionary, free and doesn't need WiFi. And ITranslate, needs internet access. Android.

What do you use?

Google Translate doesn't need WiFi. It comes with an optional downloadable Spanish Language package and works with voice.

Google Voice is cool! I have it too. I don't usually need more than a word or two when I get stuck so my dictionary is the one I use the most.
