Woman kidnapped by La Floresta

There was a story in today's GR about a US expat senior being abducted for several hours. Anyone know anything about this?

Nope, I haven't heard anything about it. I sure hope the GDL Reporter vetted this story with credible witnesses or at least pictures from the security cameras at all the ATM's they stopped at. Did they provide a picture of the perp from any of these ATM cameras in the printed newspaper version?

Noting like that. They just mentioned that the victim wanted anonymity.

Yep....me too. Especially when it is "warning people to not be out alone"........in broad daylight, on the caraterra, in a very busy area.

Lots of stuff happening, Joco is crazy lots of shooting and bodies, a body found today in Chapala and theft rings ripping off local shops on top of the regular burglaries. I will see if I can validate the story.

Thanks Spencer. There has to be security camera footage from one of those ATM's. Her bank can pinpoint the exact machines and time of withdrawal. Lets get some pictures out there.

I happened to be in the Telcel store (small one) when this woman (elderly) was describing her ordeal to another waiting customer. She was there to buy a new phone 'cuz her phone had also been stolen. She wanted to see the story in the Reporter and she was hoping she had not been named as she wanted anonymity. I didn't talk to her, I didn't ask, I didn't pry. Be vigilant if you are on your own.

According to the editor of the paper, this story was verified from police reports. They used her credit card, not the debit card to get money from the ATM's, therefore they didn't need her pin code.

Credit cards need PIN's at ATM machines too. Also, where are the ATM security camera pictures?

All I can say is they verified their story from the police reports. I guess we should ask the police about it if we want more verification.

Well if they said they didn't need a PIN then there is already something very wrong here........no?

She's not anonymous now since there's a move to get donations for her through Multiva.

She wasn't anonymous the minute she started telling people of her ordeal at the TelCel store. I still haven't seen any pictures from the ATM's or had it explained how they got money without her PIN.

This story should be front page news yet nobody is talking about it.......go figure??

What would be the woman's motive? I know you don't want it to be true, me either, but . . . There's been a lot of $hit that has happened around here that I don't want to believe is true but as time has gone by I know it is.

I think that the Guad Reporter should do a follow-up story about this. Because if it did happen the way the original story reported, then we should be updated on whether or not the perpetrators have been identified and/or caught. If they're still out there, then we can be even more vigilant about our own safety.

I think that local residents have a right to know the FULL story!

The story in the GR was lacking in any detail at all. I am amazed the story was published at all considering the source didn't provide any evidence (other than a police report) and wished to remain anonymous.

I just think there are too many BS stories around here. For me, at this point, it is up there with the "serial dog killer".......which I don't believe either.

I agree with you Sue, but this is Mexico and I doubt there IS a full story.

I hope you're right CB, but what exactly would be evidence? They reportedly jumped out and put a towel over her head, went through her stuff and kept what they wanted, then dumped her out on the highway. What evidence would there be?

If it all had to make sense then I'd know what happened to my friend Larry who 5 or so years ago was last seen being carried out of his house with blood down the front of him never to be seen again.

Mario would know who killed and dismembered his only child.

I'm also getting ready to agree with you on the dog poisonings. Not ready yet, tho, I need to hear from Lina again regarding the MP's statement that he never received the sample I personally turned over to the fire chief. Need to check with Lina on her follow up and maybe the chief again too. If everybody still denies receiving the sample, I will be forced to agree with you on that.

Perhaps about the PIN, however the ATM camera pictures should be a no brainer and a slam dunk. I would have hoped the GDL Reporter would have wanted this before printing that story given the seriousness and potential ramifications.........although I think they ran with the "serial dog killer" story too based on hearsay.
