Is anyone else having problems in Ajijic Centro? I am currently using a cellular hotspot.

I have had problems with AT&T for the last 7-10 days, both in Cal. and here.

Maybe poor coverage?

Not yet. The 1-800 number says there is a known problem in the area that they are working on. I'll go see Telmex in the morning.

So I go to Telmex and they tell me they have a big problem that is quite widespread and sporadic. Your neighbor may have service but not you. Apparently "a card" burnt out a while ago leaving them without the ability to service everyone. As a short term solution I think they are rotating users. In other words when someone complains enough they unplug someone else and plug you back in and see if the other person complains. They said the techs are working on it but have no time estimate.

Mine is working again. I apologize in advance to whomever they "unplugged" to plug me back in......

For those that are keeping score I called the 1-800 number on the modem, talked with the on-line chat tech on the TelMex website and went in person to the TelMex office. This is definitely a case of squeaky wheel getting the grease.

That's the way it works.

One day I was at a friend's store next to Plaza Bougambillas when we heard a transformer blow, All power to the area went out. Couple hours later back on. CFE guys laughed and said they took one from Vista del Lago.

Pretty sad when a company like Telmex doesn't appear to have the resources to fix a problem they have known about for several weeks. I feel sorry for the newcomers trying to get a new phone line/internet. I suspect they are in for a long wait.....

Bob, I'm four blocks west of you on Independencia. My internet went out last Thursday nite and I thought it was due to the storm.
Not. Called the 800 number on Monday, no work order number 'cause they knew about the problem in Ajijic and were working on it. This afternoon I
went to Telmex and I now have internet - for whatever the reason! But Telmex here had no record of my report earlier this week.

Yep, it seems they are leaving people out until they go complain. Then they unplug the next guy, plug you in and hope he doesn't complain. The people at both TelMex here and the 1-800 # told me the problem was significant and was affecting capacity. Neither had any idea when it would be resolved.
