What's the point John? Chevy trucks and the Honda CRV are made in Mexico. "NAFTA made" is the more important criteria, not "American made." Besides if the parts are Canadian it's not really "American made" is it? It's Nafta Made.

David - I really don't understand your point. Please read the article. And what does Chevy trucks and Honda CRV's that are not mentioned have to do with this article? The article says American and Canadian parts.

Nafta Made is more important than American IMHO.

For me, I bought Ford Escape....any Ford is better, than Chevy(Government Motor Company) as they refused GOV. bailout money....IMHO...so kick my butt now for the OP.....LOL

Has anyone here traded in a NOB plated car to a GDL dealership on a car bought in Mexico? I wonder if this is possible. Thinking about getting a new CRV. Was planning on buying it in TX and getting a new import sticker but I'd really rather have a Mexico plated car. Taking this one back to TX and selling it and then getting back here is a real pain in the butt.

I had this thought that a MX dealer would be able to get a TX plated car nationalized easier and cheaper than we can and hence might do a deal involving a trade.

Anyone done this?

Check with Spencer....My understanding is this is not possible or legal.

JimW - Almost any Ford is better than any GM car with few exceptions in the high end. I have had Fords most all my life and when compared to GM, GM was nothing but problems. I believe that in the high end Lincoln and Cadillac may be equal, but I'm not sure. My Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer can go against ANY foreign made vehicle for frequency of repair. I have replaced next to nothing on it in 103 K miles. The ONLY foreign vehicle that I would consider buying is Toyota Highlander because my friends nephew has one with over 100 K, he beats it and it's still perfect..

Chevy has always been a POS, Pontiacs and Olds were mediocre. Buicks were better, but still couldn't compare to Fords that I've owneed. And I'm not going to discuss the other inferior company called Christler, POS. I believe that Jeep is part of Chrysler and that;s another total POS. My neighbor has a Grand Cherokee, 30 K miles on first set of tires, 2 transmissions and one engine failure to the point of complete rebuild in less than 75 K.
