Yes, there seems to be considerable confusion between what constitutes reasoned debate versus, well, plain old snark.

I love a lively or even contentious discussion, but only when people critique facts and opinions, not each other.

Those "only people left" and their opinions, are not interesting.

I don´t know about that, Slainte. There is a fascinating thread about chicken skin going on right now. So far, no one has called anyone else nasty names, but it is heating up so stay tuned.

Back to the subject, sort of, I cannot believe that Lisa, a rank newcomer, has the gall to set herself up as an expert. I wonder who her subscribers are.

I have not read Lisa’s publication. Whether it works or not would for me depend upon her approach. If she invites readers to join with her in discovering Lakeside and approaches it as the fellow newcomer who looks for the answers and consults the experts, asking the questions a lot of people are afraid (or don’t know how) to ask it could be okay. The nice thing about Judy King’s e-zine was that you could always find useful, interesting or fun things you did not know no matter how long you lived here. Part of it was that Judy saw the little things that many others do not pay attention to. She was like an old friend and guide pointing things out, saying, "Look."

You should check out Judy King's new book, Living at Lake Chapala. It is absolutely full of the best information from her many articles over the years. Available at local places like Diane Pearl's and others. Also on Amazon as an ebook now, and on CreateSpace.
