Nothing new. Yes it is going to be here soon. Heres my take on it.........If you are young and healthy wash your hands regularly and go about your business. If you think you are susceptible to dying from this stay at home.

thx for this article Willie Rae - best I have seen.  So, Social Distancing applied to Ajijic at this time, when he says EVERY DAY COUNTS.. I heard this evening that the churches are closing until further notice, open circle, orchestra concert canceled.. People stocking up shows recognition of the reality. Our ex-pat community is ripe for travel spread clustering - people are still flying in. Two large 400+ people gatherings @ Auditorio last week.. what are the chances???  Community 1:1 spread could show up next week. Then WE (asymptomatically) pass it to Mexican workers who ride the bus (sardine style) & then second population incubation period.

Beginning of Holy Week (Apri 5-12 - Easter...clusters from here & Guad (2 women just confirmed in Guad - recent Europe travel) & we have the logarithmic growth this article talks of.  And potentially 5 weeks 'without testing'. If our community is going to attempt to 'flatten the curve' thru quarantining ourselves before the fact, the time is now. Eating out at restaurants, going out St. Patty's Day, regular music/dance nites.. NOT social distancing. Srsly, I want to go out, say its not here yet, hoping it will pass quickly, stay in denial. A month from now, what do we want our conversation to be? about all the sick, dying locals? Underlying health status here is not good, many ages are at risk. Overwhelming the healthcare resources will be a blink.  Colorado temporarily renewed my RN license today, to have enough nurses to step up to situation. But I'm here now, this is my community.  We can't triage this one ~ we all have lungs. Apparently a local physician sez it's here. Ideas?

I agree.
And I'm hearing from my medical friends on the front lines who say this virus is the real deal. Heed all warnings, self-isolate and stock up reasonably. It has cardiac and viral hepatitis complications. Younger people with no disease processes are dying too. Some pts get better, taken off the vents, then relapse and die.
Prevention is the very best option.

I hope they cancel Semana Santa.

Semana Santa would be a disaster right now. Thousand of people everywhere is just not what is needed now. I guess if I still lived in PV I would hole up in my house for Semana Santa if it goes forward. I sure do miss Mexico but Semana Santa in Mexico was not my favorite time of the year.

Semana Santa and Pascua will happen no matter what…..home or away.  You can´t erase two weeks of time before it happens no matter what.
You can choose not to celebrate and just stay home but the two weeks will still be there. It´s not an officially mandated holiday anyway.

reported in The Sunday Mail. The UK government recommends that people over the age of 70 remain in self-quarantine for 4 months.

It could have been smoldering long before they made it public and by now they are over the hump. On the contrary we are just starting.

But China didn't have advanced knowledge like the rest of the world has. Anyhow it's good to see that it can burn out. Sure we may  be looking at another 3 months before it burns out elsewhere.

Here is another interesting article from China.

And another thing . . . if you get the symptoms, headache, fever, etc - IB, Advil, or other anti-inflams are contraindicated. Use Paracetamol/ acetaminophen/Tylenol instead for fever.

Ferret, there’s many reasons not to use aspirin. Liver dysfunction, ulcers or other stomach problems, blood dyscracias such as low platelet count or prolonged bleeding times. Those are the ones that come to mind at the moment.

Thanks. Guess I'll have to go get some Tylenol... although I still have some Tramadol around somewhere from Hubby's stash. I just happened to have Aspirin on hand. Full unopened bottle that I've had for at least five years.

Another question: I do take one Asprina Protec (aka baby aspirin) every night on Doctor's orders. Will that mask a fever?

Jereboll...I take it as suggested in the bottle of little round balls...usually 5-6 at a time. No stomach upset either.

I think this may explain the foot dragging on the part of the US govt:

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/trump-fire-pandemic-team/?fbclid=IwAR1LxfnG6T8p7s-kNmydIcO_KU5R2fv4sQz8ysMqlgB5-M4SDBioeMa9Kgg

If your strategy is to shoot from the hip, then be prepared to shoot yourself in the foot.
