Mew speed bumps in Riberas

Those new speed bumps on the Carretera in Riberas near the gas station are quite a shocker. Does anyone know who put them in?

No and I don’t see a reason for them to be there.

At first they were black. Now they are yellow. At least for now.

There are many people crossing the carreterra in this area and car's and motorcycles tend to speed in this open stretch of road. Several motorcyclist's have been killed and pedestrians have to run for their lives crossing the road. I think the speed bumps will be helpful.

I agree they were probably put there for pedestrians. I'm not out that way often, but when the buses unload, it can be quite a trial for those needing to cross the carretera.

That makes sense.

Traffic needed to be 'calmed' there - gas station, xoxo, bus stop, restaurants, busy shops. It's only be a week or so, and as much as I don't like topes, having mini ones was better than just one big one. Motorcycles still going around them, but all the SUVs are like elephants on the road, so motos have to slow as well.. Everybody is swerving around the east bound set - so peds @ xoxo better be careful. It's a good idea to use your flashers on approach right now - I've had a number of people bear down hard behind me, cause they didn't know about them & of course are used to flying thru there at 60 kph.

A few years ago they put in a new speed bump, a big one, not far from where I live, and of course as you can't paint wet cement, it hadn't been painted yet. Some poor kid hit it at full speed on his motorbike and flew off. I didn't see it happen and don't know how hurt he was.

It would be GREAT if people only drove 60kph.... 35 mph..... there. More like 80 kpm in my experience!

Yes use flashers to warn the driver behind.
