Where, Bob? In the cities? No indication there is anything of concern around here. Business as usual. It's like waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Spread all over. There is a hot spot in one of the northern states which they are calling the epicenter for now. Cases in Guadalajara but not here as far as I know.

And, of course, I am highly sceptical of the "official" numbers.

Yeah it's probably way higher but we aren't hearing about overrun hospitals or dead bodies in the streets via news reports or social media so who knows

So, contagion is starting in the cities and crawling outward. Doesn't bode well for us. Guess the frontline will be waiters, bartenders, restaurants, vendors and imported food market cashiers?

A Mexican friend told me last night that a person died in Ocotlan.

My GP at the San Antonio Hospital, Dr. Garcia, stated yesterday that they have not had a case of the Corona Virus lakeside, to the best of his knowledge.

I don't really consider Ocotlan "Lakeside". Seems he doesn't either.

Trucking & food distribution will be our likely source. Have y'all been to Mercado de Abastos in Guad?   It is where all the owners of neighborhood abarrotes drive to, at 3 am, to replenish their stores every day or so. I have been once - an experience. All sorts of plastic packaging/supplies purchased in bulk. Serious ground zero for commerce.  You have to park in this 15 story parking garage.. Anyway, the human density is beyond words.  This is OUR wet market..  Truckers bring food in from many places. If contagion is introduced to Abastos, CV here in no time. Recently a sick trucker stopped in Monclova (trucking route to Eagle Pass, TX) IMSS hospital ER, infected 32 staff, and his ER doc died=March31. I doubt if Costco, Walmart or Soriana use abastos for sourcing food, but for sure all three transport food grown/packaged in Calexico/Mexicali,  just named "Mexico's Wuhan."

Having driven between Texas & Chapala after dark (yea I know), the #semi-trucks is just UNBELIEVABLE.. the highway 57 between San Luis Potosi & Matehuala ('Las Palmas Inn') is a miles-long roadside circus ~ cantinas & resting spots..a huge congregation of drivers, every night. Mexico has no rail system. Ships not allowed to unload @ Manzanillo, crews detained now.  We better start praying for those semi drivers. it's a stressful job, long hours at night & dangerous. We eat well, only because of them.

An article in NYT states that looking on google to see what symtomology searches are being done gives us an idea of the prevalence of Covid-19. For example Ecuador shows more searches than Spain even though it is supposed to have less cases than Spain. This could be telling us that the number of cases in Ecuador could be much higher than those reported. It cautions against arriving at wrong conclusions but only that it is being studied.

Have you seen what's happening in Ecuador!?! I only saw one video but others are out there. I couldn't watch it all. Medical workers in uniform have been burned alive on the street as they leave work. Let that sink in.

Also read an article that said passengers on some buses in Guad have blocked nurses in uniforms from getting on the bus and forcing bus drivers to drive away.

That is going to be a big problem then. These people are frontline heros. WTF is wrong with these people??????? I hope the culprits are victims of this so maybe they will have some appreciation for these heros that put their lives on the line to care for these fucktards.

I'll be tipping the garbage men and the water delivery guys an extra amount at Xmas. They are also front line heroes.

We have the same Dr. and he told me the same thing Fri.    I know he talks to several other Drs. locally and they talk to other Drs., so I believe him, they have a grapevine.  Asymptomatic cases and people going to Drs. in Guad. could be unknown by him.

This morning there are 2143 cases in Mexico and recovered patients is a higher percentage than most other nations and mortality rates are lower. The numbers don’t make sense so I think they are making them up just like China did.
